The season finale indicates that Percy’s death was a suicide rather than a murder. She committed herself because she felt bad over accidently murdering Bo Lam, the son of a rival lobstering family, some years before. Bo Lam worked as a lobsterman for the Muldoons and had an affair with Percy. While Percy was piloting the boat, he slipped overboard and perished. She became terrified and concealed his body on a neighboring island owned by the Muldoons.

The Muldoons then agreed to cover up the accident with the Lams. In exchange for their quiet, they handed them the island, one of their lobstering licenses, and some money. The Lams agreed, but they were also bitterly opposed to the Muldoons. They framed Mike Lam, Percy’s father, in order to distract attention away from their involvement in the trafficking operation. They also attempted to assassinate Percy’s brother, Eli, who had learned the truth about Bo’s death.

Ambrose uncovers the Lams’ misdeeds and saves Eli from execution. He also discovers that Percy wrote a message revealing everything before her death. He honors her requests by burning the message, allowing her to rest in peace. He subsequently returns to his home in New York, where he sees his daughter and grandchild for the first time.
